Wir freuen uns außerordentlich, mit der JAPAN MINT die offizielle Prägestätte des ostasiatischen Inselstaates als Ehrengast der 49. World Money Fair zu begrüßen. Gegründet durch die Meiji-Regierung wurde die Prägestätte bereits 1871 mit neuesten Technologien ausgestattet, um das japanische Münzwesen nachhaltig zu modernisieren. Heute verfügt das Traditionsunternehmen neben dem Hauptsitz in Osaka über zwei weitere Produktionsstätten.
Mit den Olympischen Sommerspielen 2020 – vom 24. Juli bis zum 9. August in Tokio – freut sich die Japan Mint auf eine wunderbare, neue Herausforderung. Selbstverständlich beteiligt sich das Unternehmen mit einem Sondermünzen-Programm an dem einzigartigen Sportereignis und prägt auch die olympischen Siegermedaillen. Wir sind voller Erwartung, was unsere japanischen Freunde an ihrem Messestand vorbereitet haben.
Welcome, dear Guests of Honor!
We are extremely pleased to welcome JAPAN MINT, the East Asian island state’s official mint, as the guest of honour at the 49th World Money Fair. Founded by the Meiji government, the mint was equipped with the latest technologies as early as 1871 in order to permanently modernise Japanese coinage. Today, the traditional company has two additional production facilities in addition to its head office in Osaka.
With the 2020 Summer Olympics from 24 July to 9 August in Tokyo, the Japan Mint is looking forward to a wonderful new challenge. The company is of course participating in this unique sporting event with a commemorative coin collection and is also minting the Olympic medals. We cannot wait to see what our Japanese friends have prepared at their booth.
Geballte Fachkompetenz beim Technical Forum
Parallel zu den finalen Aufbauarbeiten in der großen Ausstellungshalle tagte gestern das international besetzte Technical Forum. Geballte Fachkompetenz und jede Menge Innovationen, die erstmalig bei der World Money Fair vorgestellt wurden, ließen die Tagung schon zum Auftakt der Messe zu einem wichtigen Branchenereignis werden. Gut, dass viele der technischen Neuerungen in der Technical Section von den verantwortlichen Firmenvertretern fachkundig erläutert werden. Gestern Abend wurde das „get-together“ schon rege für Kontakte und einen schönen Abend genutzt.
Concentrated expertise at the Technical Forum
Parallel to the final set-up work in the large exhibition hall, the international Technical Forum met yesterday. Concentrated expertise and a host of innovations presented for the first time at the World Money Fair made the conference an important event for the industry right from the start of the fair. It is a good job that many of the technical innovations in the Technical Section are being expertly explained by the responsible company representatives. Yesterday evening the get-together was already used actively for networking and a nice evening.
Künker Berlin Auktion voller Erfolg
Einen sensationellen Auftakt der World Money Fair bot das Osnabrücker Auktionshaus Künker mit seiner 15. Berlin Auktion. Die insgesamt 1077 Lose, die aus den Gebieten Brandenburg-Preußen, Römisch-Deutsches Reich, Altdeutschland und aus verschiedenen ausländischen Staaten unter den Hammer kamen, erreichten einen fantastischen Zuschlag von EUR 10 Mio. bei einer Schätzung von EUR 7,1 Mio. Eines der wohl interessantesten Auktionsergebnisse stellte Los Nr. 650 dar. Das 10-Dukaten-Stück des Winterkönigs Friedrich von der Pfalz aus dem Jahr 1620 erreichte ein Ergebnis von EUR 220.000 – bei einem Schätzpreis von EUR 25.000. Eine Überraschung gab es auch bei den Franzosen. Denn ein ebenfalls auf EUR 25.000 geschätztes goldenes 5 Francs Stück aus Jahr 6 bzw. 1803 auf den Besuch Bonapartes als erster Konsul in der Münze brachte einen Zuschlag von EUR 120.000. Welch gelungene Auktion!
Successful Künker Berlin Auction
The Osnabrück auction house Künker offered a sensational start to the World Money Fair with its 15th Berlin Auction. A total of 1077 lots from the areas of Brandenburg-Prussia, the Roman-German Empire, Germany prior to 1871 and various foreign countries were auctioned off for a fantastic EUR 10 million at an estimate of EUR 7.1 million. One of the most interesting auction results was probably lot no. 650. The 1620 10 ducat piece of Winter King Frederick of the Palatinate achieved a result of EUR 220,000 – at an estimated price of EUR 25,000. There was also a surprise among the French lots: The highest bid for lot 810, a golden 5 franc piece of year 6 (1803) also estimated at EUR 25,000 on Bonaparte’s visit of the mint as first consul, turned out to be EUR 120,000. What a successful auction!

500 Jahre Erstprägung Taler
Ein besonderes Jubiläum: 500 Jahre Talerprägung. Zum Auftakt spricht Dr. Johannes Beerbaum, Vorstandsmitglied der Deutschen Bundesbank, zur Geschichte des Münzgeldes. Jiri Rosnok, Präsident der Tschechischen Nationalbank, würdigt im Anschluss die Bedeutung der ersten Großsilbermünzen, die vor einem halben Jahrtausend im böhmischen Joachimsthal geprägt wurden. Beim geselligen Beisammensein zum Abschluss der Jubiläumsvorträge können bei böhmischem Sekt und Taler-Torte Münzen bewundert werden.
500 years since the first minting of the taler
A special anniversary: 500 years of taler minting. Dr Johannes Beerbaum, member of the board at the German Bundesbank, will deliver the keynote on the history of coins. Jiri Rosnok, President of the Czech National Bank, will then pay tribute to the importance of the first large silver coins minted in Jáchymov in Bohemia half a millennium ago. During the social gathering at the end of the anniversary lectures, coins can be admired while enjoying Bohemian sparkling wine and taler cake.
